Sooner or later, almost everyone in the climbing community visits the Tetons and ascends one or more of the high peaks.

Unlike other mountain ranges, the Tetons rise abruptly as much as 7,000 feet from the flat plains of Jackson Hole and culminate in the 13,770 foot summit of the Grand Teton.

Where can I go climbing?


Rodeo Wall
A moderate sport climbing wall with over ten designated routes.

  • Type of Climbing: Sport
  • Difficulty: Twelve routes between 5.9-5.11
  • Location: Drive south of Jackson on Highway 89. 2 miles after the Hoback Junction, use the turnout on the right side of the road. 43.3015, -110.77.

Enclosure Climbing Gym
A year-round indoor rock climbing gym with a huge climbing wall, bouldering wall, and fitness center.

  • Type of Climbing: Sport
  • Difficulty: A multitude of routes that change weekly, ranging from easy to difficult.
  • Location: Drive south of Jackson on Highway 89. 3.5 miles after Albertsons, you’ll see Enclosure on the left side of the road.

Where can I go mountaineering?

Table Mountain
Located on the west side of the Tetons, when you are standing atop Table Mountain, you will feel as if you can reach out and touch the Grand Teton.

  • Trailhead: From Jackson, drive over Teton Pass and into, Driggs. Turn right at the stoplight and drive east. As the road begins to climb, you’ll see a sign for Teton Canyon Trailhead. Park here and follow the North Teton Trail.
  • Distance: 12 miles RT
  • Elevation: 4,100 foot climb
  • Difficulty: Strenuous

Static Peak
Just off the south shoulder of Buck Mountain, Static Peak is an awesome accomplishment for new mountaineers.

  • Trailhead: Death Canyon. From Jackson, you can either drive up the Moose-Wilson Road from Teton Village or enter from Moose and the Craig Thomas Discovery Center.
  • Distance: 19 miles RT
  • Elevation: 5,300 foot climb
  • Difficulty: Strenuous
