Stonecrop Ranch

Spurring off the mountain road to Spring Creek Ranch is a secluded road through an airy aspen and fir forest that could take you to your new home in an exclusive neighborhood. Rare and sprawling 40- to 50-acre lots overlook the valley with Grand Teton views peeking through the trees at strategically placed homesites.

These vast properties offer the most accessible sites on East Gros Ventre Butte where Spring Creek Ranch occupies the upper tiers of the landscape. That means you’ll live only about 3 miles from shopping and dining in the town of Jackson, but with property overlooking vast tracts of protected ranchland rather than other neighborhoods.

Stonecrop Ranch nestles in the trees and is flanked by Spring Creek Ranch on the north and Saddle Butte over the forested ridge to the east. It overlooks the protected Hansen Ranch.

A homeowner’s association maintains a central water system, the Pine Siskin Road and a portion of the Spring Creek Ranch Road which offers an easement to Stonecrop Ranch.

History of Stonecrop Ranch subdivision

Stonecrop Ranch nearly cropped up on the southeast end of West Gros Ventre Butte instead of its current site on East Gros Ventre Butte.

But when Sen. Cliff Hansen, owner of the Hansen Ranch and former Wyoming governor, realized he’d have to grant an easement through the heart of his pristine ranch to allow access to the development, it was time to analyze options.

Stonecrop Partners from Casper, Wyoming would have needed that easement to develop its 80-acre parcel on West Gros Ventre Butte, but Hansen didn’t like the prospect. So he arranged a land swap for 200 acres on East Gros Ventre Butte that would keep his ranch intact.

The land he proposed trading once housed a quarry that aided road construction throughout Jackson Hole. While the abandoned quarry has largely returned to nature’s grasp, the exposed outcrop of geologically stable stone left behind gave Stonecrop its name.

Stonecrop only has five parcels of 40 to 50 acres apiece. Each offers endless views and relentless privacy in rare homesites nestled among aspens and fir trees.

As you may imagine, turnover is low for this premier neighborhood in a premium location.
