River Meadows
Only 10 minutes south of the town of Wilson on a gorgeous byway through the foothills along the Snake River lies the River Meadows subdivision, some of the finest real estate in Jackson Hole.
Enchanted evergreen woods that make the quarter-acre to one-acre lots feel much more spacious and private are only the beginning of open space in the development. Especially since 3.4 million acres of National Forest flank two edges of River Meadows and fishing haven Fish Creek forms the third border.
While 18 lots were smaller, the rest of the 700-acre ranch was sold in larger parcels or left as open space.
Some homesites sit on an open meadow with striking views of the Grand Teton over the braided Snake River (where owners enjoy deeded fishing access) and Fish Creek. The neighborhood as a whole pulses with a unique refinement not seen often in countryside developments.
Backcountry skiing and cross-country skiing are popular winter activities for residents of the area, while river floats, hiking, mountain biking and horseback riding are also easily accessible without a lot of travel.
History of River Meadows
Don Albrecht, who also bought the neighboring Crescent H Ranch in 1963, bought River Meadows Ranch in 1973 from the Harold Young Riverview Ranch.
He began to develop the property in 1981 with the smaller lots, followed by four condominiums in a second round. The remainder sold in large sections.
Turnover at River Meadows is low.
