Real Estate in Ellen Creek / Sublette Woods
It is the exclusive Teton Village subdivision demonstrating that not everyone in Teton Village wants to live in a condominium. This secluded neighborhood beneath the Hoback canyons at Jackson Hole Mountain Resort hugs the line between the grassy meadows of Jackson Hole and the forested foothills of the Tetons.
Ellen Creek is comprised of a mere 16 homesites on 80 acres. Of those 80 acres, 40 acres are open space that acts as a habitat for moose, deer, elk, and other wildlife that frequents the area.
Despite its exclusive and remote feel, Ellen Creek residents live moments from the fine dining, skiing, snowboarding, mountain biking, hiking, shopping, and spas at Teton Village.

History of Ellen Creek Subdivision
The incredible land and homes at Ellen Creek almost never happened. The former owners of Bear Paw Ranch in Moose bought 120 acres of property near Teton Village for $5 an acre as horse pasture in the 1940s.
In 1980, the family decided to sell the nearly forgotten acreage since it had no water or trees, making it tough to develop. But the Snake River Ranch wanted the property only because it broke up their huge ranch.
So the ranch eventually swapped the 80 acres now known as Ellen Creek for that less desirable 120-acre parcel.
But residents of Fish Creek Road worried that Ellen Creek’s roads would end up connecting to Fish Creek Road, creating large amounts of through traffic in an area valued for its remoteness and privacy.
Developers compromised by dedicating 40 acres to open space around the property in an easement that requires the consent of homeowners, the original landowners, and the Teton County Commissioners to ever change.
With that settled, developers decided to group homesites in the trees to keep the meadow-like feel of driving into Teton Village.
Ellen Creek got its name from Ellen Bowman, one of the original homesteaders of the property. Ellen Creek the waterway flows from a spring just outside the boundaries of the subdivision through several lots. Another seasonal stream flows through other lots in spring through late September.
